E. Ernie Garrison Obituary

E. Ernest Garrison passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022. A native Atlantan, He was born December 26, 1931 to parents Elmer E. Garrison and Emilene K. Garrison. He is survived by his wife June Dobbs Garrison, son Michael D. Garrison and daughter Ann Harvey and son in law John Harvey, daughter in law Marla Garrison and grandchildren Jackson and Olivia Garrison. He graduated from Henry Grady High School in 1949 and Emory University School of Business Administration in 1953. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity at Emory. He served in US Army Intelligence after graduation and returned to Emory in 1956 for an MBA degree. Mr. Garrison was employed by General Electric Company, Lamp Division, in Sales for 30 years. He was an active member of Second Ponce De Leon Baptist Church serving as a teacher and director in 9th grade Sunday School and a deacon and chairman of the ushers-offering committee. He was an active member of the Buckhead Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a past president of the Bitsy Grant tennis association and a long time player and captain of USTA senior tennis teams at Bitsy Grant tennis center. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Atlanta Humane Society or Second Ponce De Leon Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held 11:30 am Saturday, June 25, 2022 in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
