Donald James Abbott "Don" January 27, 1937 – June 17, 2022 Donald, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022. Preceded in death by his wife Theresa Abbott (nee Jasinski), son Jeffrey Abbott and his parents Albert and Dorothy Abbott. Donald is survived by three children; Cynthia ”Cindy” (Dale) Balcerzak of New Berlin, Jack Abbott of Mayville and Jody Abbott (Tracy) of New Berlin, five grandchildren; Timothy Balcerzak of Lake Mills, Cheri Balcerzak of New Berlin, Dylan Abbott of West Allis, Savannah Abbott of Mayville and Kaitlyn Abbott of New Berlin. Also survived by five great-grandchildren; Kelty Balcerzak, Zachary “Zack” Hackbarth, Dorian Balcerzak, Anthony “Tony” Wittig and Gabriel “Gabe” Balcerzak. Also survived by a brother Gary Abbott and sister Marilyn Curler-Abbott and other family and friends. Don was born and raised in Milwaukee. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 3 years. During this time he was united in marriage to Theresa on October 29, 1955 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Don also served on the City of Milwaukee Police Department for 30 years during which he was very active in the Police Union. The family would like to thank Aurora at Home Hospice, especially Andrea and Marwill, for all their help, compassion and services. We also want to thank a very caring and compassionate nurse, Kylie M. and aide Stephanie B. at St Luke’s Hospital. In honor of Don’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Don’s family is in the process of planning a celebration of his life. It will take place in the coming months.
