Elsie Duprey (Martinez) was born on June 13, 1949 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Although being born in Puerto Rico, she was raised in Newark, NJ along with her 7 siblings by her parents Georgina and Hiram.  During her teens, she found love with Eugene, who would later become her Husband.  Being one of the oldest of her siblings, Elsie was always nurturing to those she cared for. Family played a vital role in her life. She and her husband raised 3 daughters, and they shared 4 grandchildren  and one great granddaughter together. She also loved and cared for her two bonus daughters and 3 grandchildren. Not only was she a daughter, mother, and sister, but she was a FRIEND.  
Through the years, Elsie was known for her skills in the kitchen. She enjoyed feeding her family and loved ones. If you ever asked her Husband, he would have told you she became a “lay down comedian”, she was always super clever with her Jokes.  Don’t you ever call Elsie “cute”; she’d instantly reply, “Monkeys are cute” . 
 
She had a deep love for music, and boy did she enjoy dancing with her husband Eugene. Weekends always included bonding with their family, and occasional trips to the casino.  

On Monday, June 20, 2022, Elsie had passed, and we knew she would be safe in the company of both of her parents, her 3 siblings, and the love of her life. Today we celebrate the life of Elsie, as she transitions and becomes Reunited with her one True love, Eugene, her husband of 58 years. May her beautiful soul Rest in Paradise.
 

 Her Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 26th, from 4-7PM and Monday, June 27th, from 9-9:30AM. Following her Visitation on Monday there will be an Interment in Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.
