Lena Abra Polott, M.A., 85, of Gaithersburg, MD passed away Monday afternoon, June 20, 2022. Lena was born in Moscow, USSR to Abraham and Zlota Tzukerman on March 4, 1937. A holocaust survivor, she lived in Moscow until she immigrated to the United States in 1977 with her beloved husband, Zalman z”l and her two sons. 

Lena led an extraordinary life defined by love and devotion for her family. She was an educator, translator, interpreter and extraordinary chef to her grandchildren, family and friends. She taught languages to her students who ranged from new immigrants to top executives of the Amoco’s CIS oil and gas team.

Lena was a devoted matriarch of the Polott family. She is survived by her loving sons, Leon and Arthur (Anita) Polott; sister Ann (Roman); grandchildren Samuel "Sammy", Daniel, Elizabeth "Libby" and Gabrielle "Abby".

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 10:00am at Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County, 8215 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD. Interment will be held immediately following the service at Judean Memorial Gardens, 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney, MD 20832. The family will be observing Shiva at Arthur and Anita’s home in Rockville, MD (for those who are fully vaccinated) at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 23, and at 9:30 PM on Saturday, June 25.
