Epping, NH - Charles “Charlie” Prescott Sanborn, 80, of Epping, NH passed away peacefully on June 18, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Exeter, NH on November 21, 1941, son of the late Richard F. and Rachel (Bourne) Sanborn. A lifelong resident of Epping, he was brought up on the Sanborn Farm and attended the Epping schools. Charlie was a graduate of the class of 1959 and following high school he attended and graduated from the Portsmouth Technical School where he studied as an automotive technician. While in technical school he worked for the State of NH Dept. of Transportation. He also worked for Merrimack Farmers and J.F. Brown & Sons before starting a 39-year career as a machinist at Kingston-Warren Corporation in Newfields, NH. Charlie retired from Kingston-Warren in 2005 to pursue farming full-time. During his life, Charlie was a 4-H Leader, Boy Scout Leader, was a member and trustee of the Epping Community Church, board member of the Epping Water & Sewer Dept., an Epping volunteer fireman, a director of the Rockingham County Farm Bureau, a member of the Rockingham Grange and a NOAA weather reporter. His greatest joy and accomplishments were spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren sharing stories, jokes and words of wisdom. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and neighbors. Charlie was predeceased by his son, Charles “Rick” Sanborn and his brother, Richard B. Sanborn. He is survived by his wife, Judith (Webber) Sanborn of Epping, NH; three daughters, Susan Hovey and her husband Timothy of Epping, NH, Catherine Rumford and husband Jared of Newfields, NH, Mary Beth Hoelzel and husband Greg of Epping, NH; daughter-in-law, Dale Sanborn of Epping, NH. His grandchildren include Kaitlyn Rumford of Newfields, NH, Trevor Hovey, Ryan Hoelzel, and Carly Sanborn all of Epping, NH; his step-granddaughter, Kayla Hoelzel of Rochester, NH; his sister Priscilla Mills, her husband Edward and nephew, Dan Mills all of Atkinson, NH. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Epping Community Church, 4 Pleasant St., Epping, NH. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in Epping. Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping, NH is handling the arrangements.
