Betty L. Terrell
Lifelong Morgan County resident, Betty L. Terrell, age 90, passed from her earthly life in the comfort of her own home on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at 8:33 am with her loving family by her side. Betty was the oldest of four children born to the late Harold “Pete” and Izetta L. (Means) Goss. She was born at home near Paragon, Indiana, on Sunday, April 3, 1932. Betty attended school in Paragon and on February 25, 1950, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Terrell. The two shared seventy-two years of marriage, countless memories and a loving, beautiful family. She was a dedicated and loving mother of two daughters, whom she proudly stayed home to raise until going to work at the MSD of Martinsville in the early 1970’s. Betty began her career with the school system working in the cafeteria and eventually became a special education aide, working at Hammonds, Brooklyn and South Elementary schools, retiring in the mid 1990’s. She was a longtime member of the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle, where she graciously volunteered her time and expertise. Aside from being a loving wife, mother and mamaw, Betty also enjoyed camping, traveling and cooking. There will be a family graveside service on Thursday, June 23rd beginning at 11:00 am in Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville with Pastor David Zempel officiating. Betty is survived by her husband, Jim Terrell of Martinsville; two daughters, Anita (husband, Mel) Rhoden and Paula (husband, Kenny) Summerlot all of Martinsville; two brothers, Harold “Jr” (wife, Roxanne) Goss of Martinsville and Steve Goss of Bedford, IN; one sister, Carrie Ellen Cole of Martinsville; two grandchildren, Heidi Hurst and Kenilyn Stephey both of Martinsville and five great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Tabernacle Christian School, 2189 Burton Lane, Martinsville, Indiana, 46151.
