Irene Vaughn, age 94 of Runnells, Iowa, passed away June 19, 2022, at Edencrest of the Tuscany in Altoona, Iowa, surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 6:00 pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 22, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place on Thursday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com<br><br>The daughter of James Henry and Fern (Templeton) Colyn, Irene was born on March 19, 1928 in Marion Co., Iowa. After graduation from 8th grade, Irene took a full-time job with a local family as a nanny/housekeeper for a dollar a day. There she met the love of her life Roy, who was a hired farm hand for the same family. Roy and Irene were married January 10, 1945, and began their life together being farmers. They moved to their own farm in the early 1950s in rural Runnells and remained there the rest of their married life. Whether it was milking the cows, riding tractors, cutting wood, mushrooming, arrowhead hunting, or coffee time, they were always together. The coffee pot was always on at their house. Although she never acquired a taste for coffee, according to family and friends she made the very best in her white and red enamel pot. Many hours were spent around the kitchen table eating snacks and drinking her famous coffee. Irene enjoyed having the neighborhood kids drop by and always had a treat for them. <br><br>Irene loved to help others. She took care of her grandmother, mother and father and two aunts and uncles in the later years. Roy died in 2003 and Irene remained on the family farm until the fall of 2020. When her health started failing she moved to Newton to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Foster. In the past few months she rotated between there and her son and daughter-in law's, Mervin and Lucy Vaughn of Runnells. She loved having friends and family visit and telling all she was now 94 years old. <br><br>Those left to honor her memory include her children, Mervin (Lucy) Vaughn of Runnells, Iowa, and Linda (Tom) Foster of Newton, Iowa. 5 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy, great-granddaughter, Mia Vail, her parents, sister Ila Miller and brother Hubert Colyn. <br><br>The family would like to thank all those who have been a part of her life and have helped in these later years. <br><br>Irene's Funeral Service:<br><br>https://vimeo.com/723703582<br><br><br>March 19, 1928 - June 19, 202203/19/192806/19/2022
