<p>Derek (Chill) Johnson went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 20, 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born August 29, 1976 to Roy and Patricia Johnson.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated from Fulton High School. and later became a Certified CNA. For many years, Derek served as group home manager for residents with numerous disabilities, including supervision, counseling, and assistance with daily activities.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;<br /> To know Derek, was to know that he loved God and His greatest commandment to Love one another.&nbsp;&nbsp;His infectious laugh and love for life would inspire Joy and Peace in the most challenging moments.&nbsp;&nbsp;His Gratitude and Positive outlook on life were always on display despite his physical and medical limitations.&nbsp;&nbsp;His strength and resilience were unmatched. Whatever the task, Derek would give his all to accomplish.&nbsp;&nbsp;He would extend himself beyond the ordinary by finding time to serve and reach out to people, while never leaving anyone alone or to feel as if they were a stranger.&nbsp;&nbsp;His caring and compassionate heart would always put the needs of others before his own and became for many the &ldquo;bridge over troubled waters&rdquo;.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even now, Derek continues to be a bridge as we reflect on his wonderful personality, kind soul, and giving heart.&nbsp;&nbsp;Such remarkable and amazing images can only come from deep within.&nbsp;&nbsp;God revealed Himself through Derek by his expressed patience, kindness, gentleness, faith, hope and love. Derek has now transitioned from the Ordinary to the Extraordinary in Eternity as God&rsquo;s Grace is sufficient!&nbsp;<br /> Preceded in death by Mother, Patricia Ann (Tate) Johnson.</p> <p><br /> Derek leaves to cherish his memory: Father, Roy Johnson, two brothers: Jeff (Barbara) Tate, Lebanon, TN., Roy Johnson, Jr., Las Vegas, NV; two Nephews and Niece: Brandon, Michael and Diamond Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends.</p> <p>Saturday, July 02, 2022,&nbsp;family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, 520 College Street, Knoxville, TN 37921. Social distancing and face coverings required. Rev. Sanford Miller, officiating. Celebration of Life will follow.&nbsp;.&nbsp;Interment at New Gray Cemetery, 2724 Western Avenue, Knoxville, TN, where a white dove release will conclude the service.
