Derek Johnson Obituary

Derek (Chill) Johnson went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 20, 2020.  He was born August 29, 1976 to Roy and Patricia Johnson.  He graduated from Fulton High School. and later became a Certified CNA. For many years, Derek served as group home manager for residents with numerous disabilities, including supervision, counseling, and assistance with daily activities.

To know Derek, was to know that he loved God and His greatest commandment to Love one another.  His infectious laugh and love for life would inspire Joy and Peace in the most challenging moments.  His Gratitude and Positive outlook on life were always on display despite his physical and medical limitations.  His strength and resilience were unmatched. Whatever the task, Derek would give his all to accomplish.  He would extend himself beyond the ordinary by finding time to serve and reach out to people, while never leaving anyone alone or to feel as if they were a stranger.  His caring and compassionate heart would always put the needs of others before his own and became for many the “bridge over troubled waters”.  Even now, Derek continues to be a bridge as we reflect on his wonderful personality, kind soul, and giving heart.  Such remarkable and amazing images can only come from deep within.  God revealed Himself through Derek by his expressed patience, kindness, gentleness, faith, hope and love. Derek has now transitioned from the Ordinary to the Extraordinary in Eternity as God’s Grace is sufficient!
Preceded in death by Mother, Patricia Ann (Tate) Johnson.

Derek leaves to cherish his memory: Father, Roy Johnson, two brothers: Jeff (Barbara) Tate, Lebanon, TN., Roy Johnson, Jr., Las Vegas, NV; two Nephews and Niece: Brandon, Michael and Diamond Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
