Barbara grew up in Houston, where she attended Katherine Smith Elementary, Frank Black Jr. High, and Waltrip High school. She graduated from high school in 1966 and then attended the Texas Academy of Art where she received a degree in Commercial Art. Barbara married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Paul Willis, after graduation in 1969. They were married 51 years, and they have two wonderful children and 4 grandchildren. Barbara had a successful career as a commercial artist. She worked for Gordon Jewelers in Downtown Houston where she designed and drew the pamphlets that advertised the diamonds and different jewelry. She is survived by two children, Paul Bryan Willis, and Lindsey Willis Gardner, husband Paul Gardner; her 4 grandchildren, Max, Karson, Lillian, and Easton; her siblings Charles Whitcher Jr., wife Christella, Melissa Estrada, brother-in-law John Forsythe plus numerous nieces and nephews. Many heartfelt thanks to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center’s doctors, nurses, and staff for the great care she received for many years. She would often speak fondly of the great experiences that she had while there and some of the wonderful people that she met.
