George Hooks, Jr. was born May 6, 1931 to the late George Hooks, Sr and Cora Hooks.  Also known as “Fuzzy” George Jr. completed the eleventh grade in high school and joined the U.S. Army in 1951.  After serving in the Army, George Jr.  worked at Mount Vernon Mills.

George Jr. was a quiet man with very few words to say.   He loved to play checkers, cook, eat his favorite ice cream and spend time with his family.

He passed away peacefully and entered his final resting place on June 19, 2022.  George Jr.  is preceded in death by two sisters: Lizzie mae and Bertha Mae; three brothers: Willie Jones, Marvin Hooks and Leroy Hooks.

George Jr. leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Elizabeth Hooks; three daughters: Flora Ellis (Arzie Ellis), Gwendolyn Jones and Donna Ziegler (Scott Ziegler) all of Tallassee, Alabama; six sons: Robert Hooks (Pinkie Hooks) of Cleveland, Ohio, George Hooks III (Sanquanette Hooks), Tony Hooks (Jeanette Hooks), Derrick Hooks all of Tallassee, Alabama, Kenny Hooks (Dorothy Hooks) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Daron Hooks of Greenville, South Carolina; thirty grandchildren and three honorable mentioned grandchildren: Kim Crockett, Kierra Sullen and Adrian Hooks; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a special god-daughter, Evelyn Blalock.
