Ruby Nunley Chaney 1929-2017 Ruby Nunley Chaney, 88, of Catlettsburg, peacefully passed away, surrounded by loved ones on Aug. 30, 2017, at Woodland Oaks Nursing Facility in Ashland. Ruby was born February 3, 1929 in Durbin. She was the widow of the late Garland Chaney Jr. and daughter of the late Ernest and Isabelle Nunley, she is survived by four sons and their spouses: Ernest Daniel "Dan" Chaney and Billie Chaney, Ricky Gene Chaney and Angela Chaney, Garland Chaney III "Butch" and Deborah Chaney, and Thomas Lee Chaney and Michelle Chaney. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Ruby was the salutatorian of the 1945 graduating class of Boyd County High School and devoted her life to the service of others. In addition to raising four boys, she was a lifelong and beloved member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 55 years. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her kindness, gentle wisdom, sense of wonder and mirth can only be matched by her deep devotion to God and family. A Funeral Service honoring Mrs. Chaney will be at 11:00am Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Hyland Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 7623 McComis Dr., Catlettsburg, KY 41129. Pastors Jeff Ferguson and Rodney Hale will officiate. Final resting place in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Visiting hours will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday evening at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg, KY 41129.
