Katherine was born on October 30th, 1942 in St. Mary’s Hospital in the Fishtown neighbourhood of Philadelphia. Her parents placed her in the kindergarten class at the nearby St Laurentius School. She then went to St Joseph High School in Camden, where she made lifelong friends, graduating in 1960. After high school Katherine worked briefly for Western Union in Philadelphia before enrolling at Rider College in Lawrence Township, NJ (the first of her family in higher education) and earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration in 1962.
