Maurice L. Robinson Epping, New Hampshire Obituary

Maurice L. Robinson

FREMONT - Maurice Leonard Robinson, 91, died peacefully with family by his side at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont on June 10, 2022. The son of Ernest and Mildred Robinson, Maurice was born on July 27, 1930, and spent his childhood in New Boston and Raymond before marrying his love, the late Barbara Robinson, and settling in Fremont for the rest of his life. In his early days, Maurice worked at the Spaulding & Frost Cooperage in Fremont, and after sharpening his carpentry skills, he spent the bulk of his career as a respected carpenter and painter who was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Maurice and Barbara purchased a one-room schoolhouse in Fremont - the same school she attended as a child - where they lived for nearly 70 years. He worked hard to make the schoolhouse a home for his wife and four children, often telling stories about the challenges of digging the cellar by hand. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, puttering around the yard, and tending to his garden, but occasionally faced the wrath of his wife whenever he tracked dirt into the house after a busy day outside. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and rarely missed a televised game. The sounds of the “Grand Ole Opry” and John Wayne movies were often heard echoing from the back porch. Maurice cared deeply for his family and always shared an “I love you.” While his health had declined in recent months, Maurice’s love for classic country music was alive and well. In his final hours, as he lay in bed surrounded by family, he tapped his feet to some tunes from one of his favorites - the legendary Willie Nelson. Maurice was predeceased by his wife, who died in 2020 after 69 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Wayne Robinson and his wife, Diane, of Brentwood; Gerald Robinson and his wife, Janet, of Alton; Carol Schreiber and her husband, Eric, of Fremont; and Cheryl Woodman and her husband, Mark, of Fremont; and grandchildren Eric Schreiber Jr., Jason Schreiber, Mark Woodman, Jared Woodman, Michelle Bryan, Sherry Robinson, Megan Robinson, Anna Robinson, and Jerry Robinson; 10 great-grandchildren; and several cousins. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Epping, NH. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Peoples United Methodist Church, 408 Main St., Fremont, NH. Burial will follow in the Village Cemetery in Fremont, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
