Dr. Paul G Stephenson, age 89 of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed from this life Monday, June 6, 2022, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville.<br><br>Born Thursday, November 3, 1932. he was the son of the late James and Hessie (Dabbs) Stephenson.<br><br>Coming from a large family in rural western Tennessee, Mr. Stephenson began an annual family vacation that has been active for over 50 years and has kept close ties with several generations of family members that are too numerous to list, but will miss him greatly. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Washington DC. He was First Chairperson of the Political Science Department at Tennessee Tech from 1964 until his retirement in 1998. His time in retirement was spent enjoying family, gardening and fishing.<br><br>Mr. Stephenson is survived by his loving wife, Anita Stephenson of Cookeville, TN<br><br>1 Daughter:<br>Susan Stephenson<br><br>2 Sons and Daughters-in-law:<br>Greg and Anna Stephenson<br>Tim and Cindy Stephenson<br><br>Grandchildren:<br>Brandon (Whitney) Stephenson, Ashlyn (Travis) Cook, Samantha (William) Durant, Kelsey Stephenson, Kate Moffitt, and Emily Moffitt, <br><br>Great Grandchildren:<br>Bennett, Oliver, Tripp, Merritt Stephenson, and Chloe Cook<br><br>2 Sisters:<br>Bettie Murphy and Mattie Holloway of Tupelo MS<br><br>A host of Nieces and Nephews<br><br>In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings: Tom Stephenson, of Sharon, TN, Donald Stephenson of Rutherford, TN, Terry Stephenson of Sharon, TN, Modine Montgomery of Louisville, KY, Lorene Matthews of Louisville, KY, Faye Lane of Rutherford, TN, and Johnnie Davis of Jackson, MS <br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Paul G. Stephenson Scholarship Endowment at Tennessee Tech.<br><br>Memorial Services for Mr. Stephenson will be held Sunday, June 12, 2022, beginning at 3:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Christian Smith officiating. <br><br>The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, June 12 from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm.<br><br>November 3, 1932 - June 6, 202211/03/193206/06/2022
