Stanley Moore

<p>Stanley Arthur Moore, 88, of Deerwood, MN died Thursday, June 2, 2022 at his home. He was born July 1, 1933 to John and Harta (Wheelock) Moore in Hennepin County, MN.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>While attending high school, he transferred to a vocational school in Minneapolis.&nbsp;&nbsp;His father was an instructor at what is now known as Dunwoody College of Technology where Stan attended and excelled while studying mechanics.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;He started working for the United States Postal Service in 1955 but his true passion was playing guitars.&nbsp;&nbsp;His uncle Homer was instrumental in his early musical development and Stan was playing by age six.&nbsp; Stan continued to develop his skills and played in many Country Western bands and even recorded an album. He brought great enjoyment to others as he played over radio stations and traveled with friends and band members to various venues.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>At such a venue he met a waitress named Jan Mosher. In 1973, they married&nbsp;and Stan became stepfather to&nbsp;Wendy and Steven. He moved into their Long Lake home and was there for 17 years.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p> <p>In addition to music, Stan really liked being near the lake.&nbsp;Stan and Jan worked on rebuilding the Moore family&rsquo;s lake cabin on Crooked Lake into their retirement home.&nbsp; Retirement from the postal service came early, however, as Jan fell ill from her 3rd&nbsp;bout&nbsp;with&nbsp;cancer.&nbsp; She preceded Stan in death on November 23, 1989 never being able to fully finish or move into their dream home together.&nbsp; &nbsp;Shortly afterward, Stan made their lake home his permanent residence.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Stan was dependable, very caring, compassionate and loved telling jokes.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was always willing to help others.&nbsp;&nbsp;He felt family was important and he went out of his way to make visits with them enjoyable including pontoon rides around Crooked Lake and playing mini golf.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He is survived by a sister June Root, daughter Wendy Jewell, son Steven Mosher, cousin&nbsp;Dave (Janice) Moore and nephews &amp; their families.&nbsp;&nbsp;He is further survived by friend Susan Coopersmith Duoos and many other beloved friends and neighbors.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jan, and brother-in-law Wesley Root.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.&nbsp;&nbsp;A visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Burial will be at the Union Cemetery in Long Lake on&nbsp;Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.&nbsp;&nbsp;Following the service on Friday&nbsp;there will be a reception at the Garrison VFW Pavilion.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
