Robert R. Platt Sr., age 88, of Ironstone Rd. died Thursday, June 2nd at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Harriet A. (Whitehead) Platt. Mr. Platt was self-employed as a Consultant of Fabric Masters in Uxbridge, working with various textile companies throughout the east coast such as Bachman Worsted Co. in Uxbridge, Yorkshire Mills in PA, Barnai Mills in Woonsocket, RI, Feltors Corp. in Millbury, Lusignan Textiles in Linwood, and Stone Textile Corp. in New York City and Whitinsville. Mr. Platt was born June 24, 1933 in Uxbridge, the son of the late Florence M. Platt. He was a graduate of Uxbridge High School, Class of 1951 and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence RI, Class of 1955. Mr. & Mrs. Platt observed their 63rd wedding anniversary on September 1, 2021 (1958). Mr. Platt attended the United Presbyterian Church in Whitinsville, where he and his wife were married. He served the Town of Uxbridge as a Selectman and was on various committees. He was also a life member of the Uxbridge Rod & Gun Club where he was Trap Chairman and oversaw the construction of a new range and implemented an environment safety program. and a life member of the N.R.A. (National Rifle Association). In addition to his wife, Mr. Platt is survived by one son Robert (Jr.) and his wife Linda (Lortie) Platt of Millville; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Katelyn, Joshua, Nathan and Ariel; and a great grandchild, Finnen Lee. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia A. Platt Dexter of Uxbridge. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 24th from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St., Uxbridge, MA 01569 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment to follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Mendon St., Uxbridge.
