Raymond, the youngest of seven children, was born August 1, 1935, to the late John Bud Wiley and Mary Ella Logan in Abbeville, Mississippi. Raymond attended Gordon School and it was there where he met his sweetheart, thus beginning a 62-year adventure.   

Raymond accepted Christ at an early age and joined Providence CME Church which later became Providence United Methodist Church, where he remained until his death.  He served dutifully, willingly, and faithfully in many capacities in the church.  He saw to the needs of the church as a Trustee, kept the doors of God’s house as an Usher President, sang the songs of Zion as a Church Choir member, taught God’s lesson as a Sunday School teacher, and caretaker of the Church Rose Garden.  Providence United Methodist church was truly his second home. When his family couldn’t find him at home, they would always go to the church and he was there cleaning, cutting the grass, or just doing something.   He loved the Church, Ministry, people, and most of all, our Lord. 

Raymond persevered through work ethic and dedication and worked as a Supervisor at the University of Mississippi Physical Plant Department for 33 years.  He also worked for Turner Springs Water Association as the Bookkeeper for 20 years which included reading water meters and fixing water lines in Abbeville.   

Raymond had a passion for sports of all kinds, but his heart was watching football or listening to his favorite teams, “Lafayette High School, Ole Miss Rebels, and Dallas Cowboys.”

Throughout his life’s journey, Raymond had many different names and touched many hearts. He was known as June, Big June, Big Jr, Unc, PaPa, Dad, and Pop. He had a huge heart, and in the community, he was known to care for the sick and elderly (administering shots, preparing meals, and delivering mail to the elderly) until his health failed.  He would do anything for anybody. He was beloved by family and friends for his kindness and generosity.  

On April 9, 1960, he married the love of his life, Ruby McIntosh, and to this union four children were born.

The Lord saw that one of His servants was getting tired so on June 2, 2022, at 8:15 p.m.; Raymond Logan Jr. was called home while resting peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi at the age of 86, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Ruby “Puddin” Logan, two daughters:  Sherry Logan of Memphis, TN and Arnita Miller of Lithonia, GA; three sons:  Johnnie (Yvette) Logan of Oxford, MS; Sam (Youlanda) Logan of Lithonia, GA; and Travis Logan of Huntsville, AL; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. His memory will be cherished forever.

Raymond was preceded in by death by his parents:  John Bud Wiley and Mary Ella Logan, brothers; S.T Logan, Jessie Logan, Willie Mack Logan, Willie Lee Logan, and Tommy Wiley; one sister:  Margie Logan; two daughters:  Juanita Curry and Lorraine Gipson Falkner.
