William Bruce Baker

William Bruce Baker, 81, of Oakland, MD, formerly of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland.<br><br>Born June 7, 1940, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Bernard and Martha (Stafford) Baker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delores A. (Martin) Baker; two brothers, Ronald and John Baker and a sister, Dorothy Willison.<br><br>In William’s early years, he worked as a home improvement contractor. William also worked for Kelly Springfield Tire Plant in Cumberland, MD and for the Maryland State Highway Administration as an inspector. Most recently worked for Garrett County Department of Solid Waste & Recycling. He was a Staff Sergeant for the US Air Force, serving from 1963-1967. He was a Master Mason and member of the Ali Ghan Shriners, Cumberland and a member of LaVale Lions Club, LaVale, MD. William also attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Oakland.<br> <br> He is survived by two daughters, Deeann Baker Jarrett (Edward), Boiling Springs, SC and Krista Ann Dorsey (Keith), Boyds, MD; three sisters, Mary Kahl (John), Accident, MD; Donna Kahl (George), Varna, IL and Vickie Sharp (Richard), Carpendale, WV; fiancée, Juanita Thomas, Oakland; three grandchildren, Lexi Dorsey, Chole Jarrett and Jeremey Jarrett; five great-grandchildren, Mateo and Dammon Mejia; Lily, Brandon and Daniel Jarrett.<br><br>At William’s request he will be cremated.
