Lawrence "Larry" K. Sewell

<p>MADISON&mdash;Lawrence &ldquo;Larry&rdquo; Keith Sewell, age 77, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022.&nbsp; He was born on June 7, 1944 in Portage, WI to Elwood and Beverly (Smith) Sewell.&nbsp;</p> <p>Larry grew up in the Madison area and enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduating from high school.&nbsp; Upon his return, he joined the Madison Fire Department, and after 24 years of service, he retired with the rank of Lieutenant.&nbsp;</p> <p>After retirement, Larry moved to Colorado where he met the love of his life, Diane Gottschalk, and they were married on November 21, 1995.&nbsp; Together, they enjoyed time with their dogs, horses, and critters of all kinds!&nbsp; Eventually, Larry and Diane moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to family.</p> <p>In his past time, Larry played for the Wisconsin Rugby Club, was an avid fisherman, and he made several trips to Africa.&nbsp; Larry particularly enjoyed his many trips up north with his sons, extended family, and many friends.&nbsp; Larry always opted for the &ldquo;scenic route&rdquo; on trips to ensure he could appreciate the wildlife along the way.</p> <p>Larry is survived by his wife Diane; son Kris (Cheryl); daughter Rayne; sisters Mary (Bob) Martin and Chris (Tom) Soehner, and Jane (Joe) Peterson; and three grandchildren.&nbsp; He is further survived by Diane Lynch Sewell; and many nieces, nephews, great friends, and former colleagues.&nbsp;</p> <p>Larry was preceded in death by his sons Jamie and Luke; his parents; and his sister Margaret&nbsp;Schnurbush.</p> <p>Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 am on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Cress Funeral Home DEERFIELD with a memorial service including firefighting honors and full military honors beginning at 11:00 am.&nbsp; immediately following the memorial service, friends and family are welcome to gather at IMMANUEL EV.
