Chuck Obituary

Claude Irvin Magee, affectionately known as Chuck, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022, in Magee, MS with his family by his side. He was born on July 30, 1938, in Mount Olive, MS. As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Navy before the height of the Vietnam War. During his service in Vietnam, Chuck was severely wounded by shrapnel and earned multiple service awards throughout his career. Despite the heartaches and the tragedy he witnessed in his 20 years in the Navy, Chuck was always incredibly proud to have been of service to his country. Chuck was a hard worker, a resilient figure in the face of adversity, a lover of always having a good time, riding and caring for his many horses, and participating in the Dixie National Mt. Olive Wagon Train Ride annually. Additionally, he was one of the founding members of VFW Post 9122, where he served in numerous roles and elected positions. Chuck had an unassuming and disarming smile that could put anyone at ease; from children to the elderly, everyone was a friend to Chuck. His sense of humor was second to none and he was as compassionate as he was funny. Even when ill, Chuck was never angry, sad, or depressed – he could find the silver lining to keep pushing forward in every situation. He represented the good that we all need every day in our lives. He was one of a select few who could rise to meet challenges with a smile and a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He was a true Renaissance man - someone who appreciated living life to the fullest and exemplified kindness to everyone he met and loved. He is survived by his beloved family and countless friends that he touched throughout his life. A graveside military service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Coat Baptist Church Cemetery, 379 Baldwin Rd, Magee, MS at 9:00 am with interment following in the church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
