NEW ROADS ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchmans Roman Catholic Church in Cankton (552 Main St, Cankton, LA 70584) for Anna Belle "Shone" Touchet Benoit, age 94, the former Anne Belle Touchet, who passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Pelican Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Maurice. Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Kenneth Domingue, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Benoit was a native of Youngsville and a resident of New Roads. She was also a parishioner at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton. Mrs. Benoit was a very compassionate caretaker that loved her godchildren, nieces, and nephews, as her own. Survivors include three sisters, Mary Romero and her husband, Curley, of Youngsville, Gladys Credeur of Carencro, and Patsy Walters of Carencro; and her beloved godchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac G. Benoit; her parents, Harrison Touchet and the former Lily Romero; two brothers, Francis Touchet and his wife, Theresa, and Gerald Touchet; three sisters, Laura Mae Richard and her husband, Ed, Lula Mae Vallot and her husband, Minus, and Laura Belle Picard and her husband, Jimmy; and two brothers-in-law, Johnny Credeur and Leonard Walters. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the church (552 Main St, Cankton, LA 70584). The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday in the church (552 Main St, Cankton, LA 70584).
