Floyd Augustine Miner

Floyd Miner, 91, of Colchester passed away on June 1, 2022 at the University of Vermont Medical Center. <br><br> Floyd was born on July 30, 1930 in Lowell, MA, son of Frank and Myrdle (Tucker) Miner. He moved to Vermont when he was a year old.<br><br>Floyd served in the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment from 1950-1953 during the Korean War. Upon returning to the states he worked in the farming and logging industries, at Sprague Electric, Farrell Construction, Johnson Radio Service, Service Master, UHC, and retired from Ace Hardware.<br><br> Floyd was actively involved in community service and outreach and served as a member of: Age Well, the Lions Club, VFW, American Legion, and Combat Veterans Association. In 2011, Floyd was featured on WCAX as one of Vermont’s “Super Seniors”.<br><br> In Floyd’s earlier years he enjoyed playing baseball and hunting. He then took up woodworking while designing lovely cedar gift ornaments that were later donated to such organization’s as meals-on-wheels, and also crafting lawn ornaments, as well as jig-sticks. Floyd enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationing in Maine. He was an avid Red Sox fan and would poke fun at anyone who wasn’t. He and his wife enjoyed their daily outings to the Athens Diner and visiting with staff (aka extended family).<br><br> Floyd will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, tremendous acts of kindness and generosity, and for the warmth and love he blessed all of us with. Floyd is survived by his wife of forty (40) years, Marie; son, Glen Devenger; DIL, Connie Devenger; grandson, Cody Devenger; sister, Janet Paquette; BIL, Raymond Paquette; sister, Katherine Nelson; BIL, Albert Nelson; BIL, Jerry Stearns; SIL Roxanna Stearns; their children Mark and Amy Stearns; SIL, Kathy Lord and family; BIL, Donald Stearns and family, many nieces and nephews, and the countless friends he and his wife have come to know and love.<br><br>In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: https://joshpallottafund.org/joshs-house/
