Mr. James R. “Jim” Love, age 76 of Rural Robinson, IL died Monday May 23, 2022, at 3:59 PM of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle automobile crash on IL Route #1, near Birds, IL. Jim was born on January 8, 1946, in Gary, IN to Ralph V. and Ormal Enid (Morrison) Love. He graduated Robinson High School with the Class of 1964, and then attended Southern Illinois University. In 1967, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served from 1967 to 1971. He was a flight crew chief on B-52 Bombers, stationed in Guam. Jim then went on to graduate Eastern Illinois University with an M.S. in Education. He taught at Nuttle Middle School in Robinson, IL, and later in life, returned to teaching at Noble High School, Noble, IL. Jim also worked at Ledo Construction, TRICO and Prudential as well as owning his own construction business. Jim enjoyed Dirt Track Stock Car Racing with his brother Dick and friend, Bob Gifford. Later engaging in Truck Pullin’ with his brother Dick and searching for antique cars with his brother Dave. Jim was also a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Robinson, IL, and the Lawrenceville American Legion Post #28. On September 26, 1967, Jim married Nancy Lee (Bilski) and they had two children. Jim and Nancy later divorced. Jim later met Jo (Kirkwood) Denison and they were life partners for over thirty years before her passing on August 15, 2021. Survivors include a son, Brian Love, Chandler, AZ; a daughter, Mrs. Tracey and Art Jipson, Dayton, OH; a granddaughter, Katie Jipson, College Corner, IN, a grandson, Will Jipson, Franklin, OH. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick and Coanne Love, Hutsonville, IL, Dave and Sharon Love, Petersburg, IL; sisters and brother-in-law, Dene and Herb Larsen, Rocklin, CA and Mrs. Gayle McKee, Robinson, IL along with several nieces, nephews and cousins who were very special to him. Also, very special to Jim were Jo’s sons, Matt and Danel Harr, Normal, IL, Mark Denison, Lawrenceville, IL and Andrew and Abby Denison, Clarksville, TN and their families. Preceding him in death were his parents; his Life Partner, Jo (Kirkwood) Denison and a brother-in-law, Gene McKee. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday May 27, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, IL with pastors T.R. Akers and Ben Ross officiating. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM until the time of services at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home. Cremation will follow and funeral services with interment at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery, Lawrenceville, IL will follow at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lawrenceville American Legion Post #28, with envelopes available at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the combined units of E. M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, VFW Post #4549 and AMVETS Post #33, all of Robinson, IL and Reavill Post #132 Flat Rock, IL.

I learned much from Mr. Love in his middle school shop class when I was in 6th and 7th grades. He was a kind and patient teacher. I know that he and his brother, Dick, and my father Kenneth Caraway were colleagues and friends back in the day. Rest easy, Mr. Love.
