Kelly Lynn Miller left this life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on May 20th. Kelly’s life was an amazing gift to all that knew her. She strived to make each day filled with sunshine and love for everyone she met. Kelly was born on July 31,1961 the daughter of James and Kathleen (Schmeisser) Miller. Kelly graduated from Hope D. Wall School in 1982. She worked at Aurora University for 23 years and loved her job. A large portion of Kelly’s life was spent participating in Special Olympics. She was incredibly proud to represent the United States in the World Games in Connecticut in 1995. She took pride in all of her medals and was able to tell you exactly how many she had won (88). Throughout her life, Kelly received numerous awards. She received an Image Maker Award from the City of Aurora, Sports Channel Inspirational Athlete Award, Participant of the Year Award from Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, and the Phenomenal Woman Award from Aurora University. She was chosen as one of the top 100 Irish Americans in 1999 and carried the 2002 Olympic torch for the Salt Lake City Olympic Games. In her lifetime, Kelly overcame many challenges. Her impact was felt by each life that she touched. She will be missed for her sweet smile, hugs, awesome dance moves, and love of Patrick Swayze. Most recently she battled the debilitating ravages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Her last years were spent living with her sister Susan. Kelly is survived by her siblings, James (Sue) Miller, Susan (Steven) Anderson; and several nieces and nephews: Erin, James, Derrick, Jeremiah, Justin, Jarrod and Jillian. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Kathleen Miller; grandparents, John and Elizabeth Schmeisser and Michael and Lillian Miller. Every family needs a Kelly in their lives! A heartfelt thank you to Debbie Fell for her amazing friendship with Kelly. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, 834 N. Highland Ave, Aurora, IL 60506.
