Our beloved father, stepfather, brother, uncle and grandfather, family member, Willie Ervin Mearise, passed away on May 17, 2022. He was born on October 1,1935 to RoseAnna Mearise and Joda Mack Galbreth in Red Springs, NC. Willie attended Red Springs High School. Upon moving to New York, Willie worked as a cab driver and superintendent. He then worked as Unit Aide at New York Presbyterian Hospital until he retired in 2000. Willie enjoyed driving, watching westerns, NCIS and the NY Mets. Willie also enjoyed talking to individuals from across the county on his CB Radio. Known to his family as Ervin, Grandpa or Pop, Willie is remembered as man of few words and devoted to his family. Willie is survived by his sister Hellen McNeill, and daughter Rose Whitfield, stepchildren Virginia Bazemore, Lonnie Whitfield and Mark Whitfield, and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. Willie is predecessed by his parents RoseAnna Mearise and Joda Mack Galbreth, uncle Harry Lee Mearise, brother Willie Mack Mearise (known as Mack) and wife Ethel Whitfield. Willie Mearise is also predeceased by his stepchildren Willie Bazemore and Margaret Whitfield.
