Bishop William "W.A." Allen Bingham

Bishop William Allen “W.A.” Bingham, 89, of Albany, peacefully passed away into the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 23, 2022, at his home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Life Church of Leesburg, 588 Fussell Rd. Leesburg, GA 31763. Home going funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2022, at Life Church of Leesburg. Dr. Timothy M. Hill, Bishop Gary Lewis, and Pastor Matthew Schluckebier will officiate. All ministers are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers and will have special seating. Following the service, military honors will be presented, and he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Doc Williams will officiate at the committal service. Born April 18, 1933, in Moorhead, MS, Rev. Bingham was the son of the late Bennie and Lora Moore Bingham. He proudly served his country in The United States Army and soon after his honorable service started a family with his beloved wife Margie. They together began a 70-year commitment in serving God and his people in ministry. He proudly pastored several churches affiliated with the Church of God of Cleveland, TN including, Downs Church of God in Sandersville, Lakeview Church of God in Augusta, East LaGrange Church of God, Ochlocknee Church of God, Forest Hill Church of God in Thomasville, Columbus Downtown Church of God, Statesboro Church of God, West Ward Church of God in Douglas, Eighth Avenue Church of God in Albany that is currently Life Church of Leesburg, where he was given the honor of Pastor Emeritus, and North Rome Church of God, where he retired from pastoral ministry. In his years of ministry within the Church of God he served as State Overseer for Kansas from 1976-1980 and Texas from 1980-1984. Bishop Bingham also served as Evangelism Director for the State of Georgia from 1984-1987. He served for six years on the Board of directors and for two years as Chairman of the Board for Northwest Bible College. He preached over 5,180 sermons, baptized in water 432 people, and had 1,474 members join the church under his ministry, and 60 churches were organized under his leadership. He conducted countless weddings, funerals, and was devoted to all those who called him Pastor throughout the years. For the past 20 years he served families in funeral service and spent the last seven years as Chaplain of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home of Leesburg, where he never met a stranger and was proud to be a part of the ministry there. In his free time, he loved to study the Word of God, spend time with his family, and enjoyed deer hunting. Most precious to him was his faith, his family, his church, and his country. In addition to his parents, Bishop Bingham was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie McDonald Bingham; and siblings, Dottie, Lucille, Doris and Corine. Survivors include his two daughters that he was very proud of Debbie Bingham Eller (Gary) of Leesburg, and Janice Bingham Stapleton of Albany; siblings, Edward and June; grandchildren, Daphne, Chris (Denise), Tiffany and Tyler (Rachel); great-grandchildren, Hannah, Chandler, Cruz, Jaxson, Keely, Caitlin, Grace, Caleb, Lexi, and Kenzie; and one great-great-grandchild, Abel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Life Church of Leesburg at 588 Fussell Road, Leesburg, GA 31763, in memory of Bishop W. A. Bingham. Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home of Leesburg has been given the honor to serve the family of Bishop W.A. Bingham.
