James L. Hall Obituary

James Leroy Hall, 69, of Richfield, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. James “Dad” was a loving great-grandfather, grandfather, father, and husband who returned home to our Father in Heaven after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born to parents Marlin Elva and Farrell Lavina (Crosby) Hall on August 12, 1952, in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Dad served his country as a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam era.  After his service, he pursued an education in agriculture and mechanical engineering.  Dad worked many years as a farmer, pipe fitter, plumber, and more recently, a truck driver.

James married Debbie - the love of his life, in 1982, who survives him.  Mom and Dad were later sealed in the Dallas, Texas L.D.S. Temple.

He is also survived by: daughters - Kimberly (Jeremy), Tiffany (Shawn), Brook (Brice), Miranda (Nick), and sons -Jeff (Valerie) and Clinton; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

James was preceded in death by: his parents; son – Justin; and grandchild - Piper.

Dad had a passion for fly fishing. He would tie his own flies and loved teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He also enjoyed spending time with his bird dogs – they went everywhere with him. Dad loved to learn. He would call us up on the phone to practice his French or share his latest recipes. Learning new languages and cooking sophisticated meals was his thing! Dad was also an artist, a joker, and never new a stranger. He loved his family dearly. He was known for taking mom out dancing, going on daddy daughter dinner dates with his girls, and scouting trips with his boys. Nobody loved Disney movies like Dad did. He could watch them over and over. Dad also loved to travel and see new sights. He did much of that right up until he received his cancer diagnosis. There were times when Dad would lovingly become referred to as a cantankerous old man. He loved a good debate!

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Richfield, Idaho.

A viewing will be held at 10:30 a.m. and services will start at 11:30 a.m. at The Church.

Burial with military honors will follow at the Richfield Cemetery in Richfield.
