James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mose M. (Mancy) Hicks and was a proud Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. James was a member of the Forrest Hills Baptist Church for over 58 years and worked as an automobile salesman in the greater Atlanta area until his retirement.</p><p style="margin:0;"> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Hicks; son and daughter-in-law, Stephan and Sharon Hicks; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Steve Smith, and Cynthia and Greg Cochran; grandchildren, Stephanie, Ethan, Sheridan, Colton, Savannah, Jessica, and Justin; great grandchildren, Spencer, Stephan, Sage, Sawyer, and Lily; and three sisters and two brothers.</p><p style="margin:0;"> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 11:00am in the chapel of A.S. Turner &amp; Sons Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will be in Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain with Navy Honors being rendered. The family will receive friends Monday, May 23, 2022, from 6-8pm and Tuesday, May 24, 2022, from 9:30-10:30am at the funeral home. A.S. Turner &amp; Sons Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.</p><p style="margin:0;"><br></p></div>

    James D. Hicks, age 88, of Stone Mountain passed away May 19, 2022. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed.
