Robert D. “Bob” Lingo, Sr., 72, of Vineland, NJ passed away late Wednesday evening May 18, 2022 at the VA Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. Bob was born & raised in Vineland where he remained a lifelong area resident. He was the son of the late Irena (Halter) & Robert Dare Lingo. He was also preceded in death by Stepfather Leonard Adler, brother’s in-law; Isaac Allen, Robert (Joann) Petersen, sister’s in-law; Katherina Kaya & Mary Petersen, Mother in-law Anneliese Petersen. Bob was a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps receiving numerous awards along with 3 Purple Hearts. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League in Vineland. All that knew him knew how proud he was of his service to his country & the Corps. Bob was known over the road as “Deputy Dog” over the CB radio as he traveled in his “big” truck. He always preferred his Peterbilt’s vs the Mack’s. He worked for various trucking companies over the years before retiring in 2006 from Foundry Service, making friends everywhere he traveled. Bob enjoyed fishing in the Delaware Bay & the Outer Banks in his boat, playing pinochle, deer hunting, camping, watching old Western movies & working on cars. But his most cherished time was spent with family and his grandchildren. Bob had many nicknames over the years. At age 40, he became “Hubba Bubba”, at age 50, it became “Pop”. He loved to tell stories of his life experiences & adventures and with each telling, they would get more entertaining. It was his goal to make you laugh until you cried. He was a very happy fulfilled man and will be greatly missed. Till Valhalla, Pop! Bob is survived by his wife of 51 yrs & 6 months; Jane (Petersen). Beloved father of Robert Jr. & Deborah Lingo (Bruce Tomlin). Devoted PopPop to Rachel Santos & Wayne Solomon III, Adored great grandfather to Emiliano Santos, Everleigh (Solomon) Boyd & Levi Solomon. His precious dogs, Abby & Peanut and his granddog Hank. 2 Sister’s; Darlene Halter-Wheaton & Linda Mazzoni. Sister-in-laws & Brother-in-laws; Helga (Jake) Golley, Jean Allen, Linda (Denis) Vekeman, Nels (Debbie) Petersen, Lawrence Petersen, Peter Petersen, Paul (Theresa “Red”) Petersen & Anneliese Garrison. His Semper Fi buddies from Vietnam, Ray (Betty) Hunt, Bob (Laura) Uhouse, & Jeff (Cathy) Cetotal. Relatives & friends will be received on Tuesday May 24th from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, NJ followed by a graveside funeral service with military honors, approx. 12:30 PM at the Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Almond Rd., Pittsgrove, NJ.
