It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Grammie & Auntie, Mary McDonald (nee Tarapacki) 86 years on May 9, 2022, Mary passed away peacefully at Penticton Regional Hospital with Family by her side. Mary was born in Lashburn, SK and grew up in Payton, SK and on the family farm in Lloydminster, SK. Mary was deeply devoted to her family, not a day went by where she didn’t say “I Love You”. Left to mourn is Mary’s devoted and loving husband of 64 1/2 years John (Jack) McDonald, daughter Cindy McDonald, son-in-law Bruce Rowbotham, grandson Branden Rowbotham, sister Betty Robertson and family, sister-in-law Belle Tarapacki & family, Tracey McDonald & Kristen (McDonald) Scott & family as well as many nieces & nephews. Mary was predeceased by her precious daughter Kathy (McDonald) Rowbotham in 2010, Mary missed Kathy deeply, parents Andrew & Katharine Tarapacki, brother Walter, brother-in-law Robert Robertson, brother-in-law Neil McDonald & sister-in-law Bernice McDonald Mary thoroughly enjoyed her Friday luncheons with her dearest friends Debbie, Georgia, Judy & Sue, she loved you dearly and you brought much joy to Mary, sharing laughter & hugs along the way, thank you for always taking such good care of her. Mary was the Recipient of The RCMP Second Man Award for her dedicated service to the RCMP & husband in Wells BC for which Mary was very proud of. Mary was known for always lending a listening ear or shoulder to cry on, which made her a natural when she became a volunteer Counsellor for the Prince George Crisis Line. Mary was a woman of many talents from making bird houses for friends, tole painting and especially for her love for gardening, even being showcased in the Penticton Herald beside her Koi Pond, there was many a graduation photo taken in the yard, Mary was an exceptional seamstress making wedding, bridesmaids & graduation gowns. While living in Wells BC Mary designed & made period appropriate dresses for Barkerville’s Theatre Royal. While doing all this and caring for her family Mary had a career as a junior accountant keeping books for business in Fort St. John, Prince George & Penticton.
