Alfred (Al) K. Seifert Obituary

Alfred (Al) Seifert, age 69, of Franklin Lakes, NJ, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Elizabeth; his two children and their families: his younger son Michael, daughter-in-law Lauren and grandson Ryder; his older son Kenneth, wife Chelsea and their five children.

Al was born July 10, 1952 in Paterson, NJ and graduated from Fair Lawn High School in 1970. At a young age, Al developed a fascination and love for working with his hands which lasted his whole life. Entering the trades as a Carpenter, he started working for the Carpenters Union, Local 15; moving up through the construction industry to become the Superintendent of Gale & Wentworth for many years. Al then set his focus on furthering his education, earning a number of certifications in teaching and implementing safety procedures. Towards the end of his career, Al joined the HAAS Construction Management team, where he was happily employed until he retired.

Al loved all things construction and to many was considered the man with the answers. He believed with a little patience, research, safety and a positive attitude there wasn’t an obstacle you couldn’t overcome. Outside of work, he filled his time doing what he loved most, spending time with his family and dogs. He loved to travel, go camping, attend any good car or large machinery show, and to surround himself with good company and good food. One of his passions in life was teaching; not only at work, giving support and guidance to his many mentees’ but also at home passing on all his years of life experience and knowledge to his son Michael. One of the many life lessons Al always stressed was to keep smiling and the importance of a good laugh.

Anyone who knew Al, knew he had an amazing sense of humor, quick wit, and an ability to keep you laughing. He loved fiercely and deeply and we take great comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, watching over all of us as he always did.

Memorial service will be held at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, New Jersey on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the John Theurer Cancer Center, Hackensack, NJ.
