Obituary

Wendy Mandar, age 57, passed away peacefully, on May 14, 2022, at Moog and Friends Hospice House, after yearlong battle with Cancer.

Wendy is survived by her partner Dave Wright, her Daughter Ashlee Wall (Tim), her mother Alison, her 2 older brothers Andrew (nephew - Mathew, niece - Caroline, nephew - Marco) Brian (niece -Sheonna and family) 2 older sisters…Fay (brother-in-law - Paul, nephew- Graeme and family) Sally (niece - Meaghan and family), her niece Joanna (in Scotland) and many other (long time) friends and family members.

Wendy was born on August 30th, 1964, in Straiton Place, Portobello, Scotland to Alison and Charles McLachlan (deceased August 23, 2001)

In 1972, Alison and Charles decided to move to Ontario, Canada with their 5 children, (oldest to youngest) Fay, Andrew, Brian, Sally and Wendy. The family spent about 8 years living in Woodbridge before moving to Scarborough.

In 1983, when Wendy was 19, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Ashlee Wall (nee Tanner - husband Tim.

In 1988, she met Dave Wright, a person she would spend the next 30 years with.  In 2001, her father, Charles passed away (Wendy was the same age her daughter is today - 38 when her father passed). In 2002, 6 months after her dad passed away, Wendy made the courageous decision to move all the way to BC, to look after her mom Alison, as she was grieving the loss of her husband.

Shortly after moving to BC, Wendy started working at the Riverside Motel. She spent almost 20 years working alongside Nick, his wife Renu, and their 3 boys, Rohit, Rahul and Rohan. She loved her job. She loved working in the office and interacting with all the guests that came through. She would still call many of the guest that came through friends today.  Wendy loved coffee! And loved going to Tim Hortons! Sometimes she would go up to 5 times a day. So, needless to say, the staff at Tim Hortons (Westminster location) got to know her very well. She was so well known that I could go through any time of day and say, “can I get a coffee for Wendy”, and they knew exactly what to make.

On the day she passed Dave went through the drive-thru and they presented him with one last coffee in remembrance of her.

A Graveside Service will be held 10:00 am Friday, May 20th at Canyon View Cemetery, 10316 Canyon View Rd, Summerland, BC.
