Ken was born in Shelbyville, Illinois, on the 11th of May, 1954 to Gerald and June Dickinson. His parents were the foundation of his character, work ethic, and love of family. He spent his elementary years in Richfield, Minnesota; middle school in Camden, Arkansas; and high school in Tucson, Arizona.
Ken graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a BBA in Accounting and Information Systems. From Texas Tech University with a MBA and a Master’s in Oil and Gas. He began his professional career in El Paso, Texas with El Paso Energy, later joined Mobil Oil in Dallas/Houston, and completed his career with British Gas/Shell in Houston. When not a full-time employee, Ken excelled in numerous business system consulting roles with various oil and gas corporations.
In addition to his passion for superior work performance, Ken loved Texas Tech, the Astros, and the Texans as an avid sports fan. Additionally, he held a keen interest in the exploration of space and made journeys to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center to personally witness several launches. When spending time with his family, Ken loved watching movies, listening to Jimmy Buffet, laughing and dining out at their family favorite, Pappasito’s.
Ken was proceeded in death by his parents and younger brother Jack Dickinson. He is survived by his wife Janet, daughter Melissa, and son Keith; brother Greg Dickinson and wife Dianne of Houston; and Uncle Bob, Aunt Martha and Pat, all of Shelbyville, IL. Ken dearly loved his family and wanted to be with them at every opportunity.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, Monday, the 6th of June at Rosewood Atascocita.
