Lois R. Howell

Lois R. Howell, 94, of Coal Valley, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services will be 11am, Monday, May 23, 2020 at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111-1st St A, Moline with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Two Rivers United Methodist Church or Rock Island Fire Department. Lois was born November 19, 1927 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Edward and Nina (Robinson) Cantril. She married Joy C. Howell on October 27, 1946 in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2014. Lois started her career as a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, Ft. Madison, IA and later worked at QC Credit Bureau and Rock Island Cummins Engine Co, Rock Island. She retired from Streiter Corporation, Rock Island. Lois was a life member of Oakwood Country Club where she was Past President of Oakwood Ladies Organization and member of Two Rivers Methodist Church, Rock Island. She was an avid golfer, was a Girl Scout Leader for Patty and Bonnie and a Den mother for David. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie (Stephen) Lawhorn, Coal Valley; grandchildren, Rachel (Nathan) Hazen, Fairfax, IA, Joshua (Ashley) Lawhorn, Moline and great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Jo, Greyson Graeme & Piper Jean Lawhorn, Natalie Joy, Hazen. She was preceded in death by her son, David Howell and daughter, Patricia Bame.
