Mrs. Retha Music Taylor, 93, died Wednesday morning (May 18, 2022) at Hospice House Satilla in Waycross, GA following a short illness. She was born December 19, 1928 in Coffee County, GA, but lived most of her life in Ware County, GA. She was a Highschool graduate and played basketball for the Nicholls, GA team. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Brunel St. Church of God. Retha was preceded in death by her parents, Early Music and Lottie Thomas Music; her husband, James Edison Taylor; a son, Donnie Taylor; four brothers, Clintis Music, Otis Music, Doyis Music and Verlon Music; and two sisters, Rita Music Taylor and Mary Opal Music. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Head of Waycross, GA; two sons, Danny Taylor (Alice) of Waycross, GA and Dennis Taylor (Rita) of Waynesville, GA; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Taylor; six grandchildren, Dawn and Amber Head of Pensacola, FL, Rebecca Taylor Griffin (Timothy) of Waycross, GA, Chris Taylor (Marcie) of Birmingham, AL, Lori Taylor Pitts (Wes) of Meansville, GA and Jonathan Taylor (Leslie) of Hoboken, GA; thirteen great grandchildren, Harrison and Tanner Cristobal, Jordan, Joshua and Abigail Taylor, Walker, Owen, Wyatt and Weston Pitts, Allen and Emily Taylor and ChloeAnna and EllaJaye Griffin; eight step- grandchildren, Cassandra Spencer (Adam), Stephanie Harrell (Larry), Lillian, Alyce and Travis Harrell, Kassidy Sasser (Carter), Timothy Griffin, Jr., and Austin Griffin; three step great grandchildren, Cash Sasser, Regan Spencer and Penelope Spencer; two sister in laws, Kathleen King and Laverne Taylor; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (May 21, 2022) at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at 10 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed by posting to her tribute wall, or by viewing the video tribute and funeral service recording at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
