Mark Stetser Rutledge Obituary
MARK STETSER RUTLEDGE, 69, of Swainton, NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022. He was born in Morristown, NJ to the late Thomas and Betty Rutledge and was raised in Wilmington and Avalon. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Stockton University and served in the United States Coast Guard reserves.
Mark is survived by Patty (nee Lund), his devoted wife of 45 years. Together they owned and operated the Avalon Freeze for 45 years, Café Loren in Avalon for 34 years, and were the original owners of the Fishin’ Pier Grille.
Mark loved hunting with Ted and his dogs, boating, scuba diving, traveling, woodworking and his gadgets. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, the Avalon Fishing Club, the Avalon Methodist Church, the Wireless Aircraft Sport Pilots, and various hunting clubs.
In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by his mother-in-law Emily Lund Hunsworth; his sister Lee (Jim) Maiden; his brother-in-law Erik (Ginny) Lund and nieces and nephews Erik, Michael, Katey, Zella, and Luisa; his brother-in-law Ron Prox and nieces Shelly and Kristy; his sister-in-law Eugenia Rutledge and niece and nephew Gina and Brian; and many friends, customers, and employees especially Ryan and Josh who he was proud to have carry on the tradition of Café Loren.
