Doris Virginia Pope

Mrs. Doris Virginia Pope, age 89, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Mrs. Pope was born on July 6, 1932 in Rome, GA, to her parents: Jesse Thacker and Maggie Abernathy Thacker. Doris lived the greater part of her life in Polk and Floyd County. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a member of Gordon Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Integrated Products where she had worked as a twister operator. Mrs. Pope was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Grady Loyd Pope; 2 sons: Rev. Grady Lee Pope and Wayne Pope; 2 daughters: Kathleen Wiggins and Gulene Hovers; and 3 sisters: Gene Jefferson, Edna Hide and Judy Ginn. Mrs. Pope is survived by her 4 loving children: Billy Pope of Aragon, GA, Ricky Pope of Aragon, GA, Rev. Dennis Pope of Aragon, GA, and Alicia Shedd (Danny) of Floyd County, GA; 21 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Vernon Thacker, Jerry Thacker and Jesse Lee Thacker and sister, Mozell Pope. Graveside Services for Mrs. Pope will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating and a eulogy given by her great-grandson, Jeffrey Williams. Serving as pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Jason Pope, Heath Williams, Walker Williams, Dylan Pope, Devin Darden, Drew Jackson, Austin Pope and Nathaniel Pope.
