Kenneth M. Neumann, 83, Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery Columbarium, Marshfield, on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 9:30am, followed by a visitation held at the First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10am until service time at 11am. Rev. Dr. Laurie Brubaker Davis will officiate. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Kenneth Marlowe Neumann was born on August 24, 1938 in Dover, Minnesota, the son of Hubert Henry and Rosina Emma (Hammel) Neumann. He was a 1956 graduate of St. Charles High School, St. Charles, Minnesota. He was a 1960 graduate of Lakeland College, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1965 he graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he received a Master of Science degree, School of Social Work. He married Theone Dorothy Wiesman on August 20, 1960 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Stratford, WI. Ken was employed as a social worker from 1960 to 1967 in the counties of Juneau, Walworth and Wood, all in Wisconsin. He worked as a counselor and childcare staff supervisor at Sunburst Youth Homes, Inc. in Neillsville and Marshfield from 1967 to 1974. He then worked as Clinical Social Worker in the Department of Psychiatry at the Marshfield Clinic, Marshfield, WI from 1974 until retiring in 1995. During his professional career in the mental health field, Ken was active in the Wood County Mental Health Association; he helped develop a manual on Survivors of Suicide (SOS) and taught classes for professionals in central Wisconsin and beyond to facilitate early recognition of suicide and intervention options. He was a member of the Board of Certified Clinical Social Workers, and the Wisconsin Society for Clinical Social Workers where he held various offices and committee chairmanships. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield, and served as an elder at various times. He was a board member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Marshfield Area, and a charter board member of the Marshfield Area Habitat for Humanity, serving as board member and Family Selection Chairperson. Ken enjoyed golf, traveling, summers at their cottage in Tomahawk, WI and winters at their home in Chandler, AZ. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theone, and their children, twins, Darrell (Kris) Neumann of Chandler, AZ, and Daniel Neumann of Edina, MN, and Thomas Neumann of Madison, WI. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Tera, Ethan, Kyle, and Julia Neumann, and 2 great-grandchildren, Athena and Oliver. He is further survived by his brothers, Harold (Janice) Neumann and David Neumann (Karen), brothers-in-law, Dale (Judy) Wiesman and Glen (Kris) Wiesman. He was predeceased by his mother, father, parents-in-law Clifford and Dorothy Wiesman, and sister-in-law Bonnie Neumann. The family is very appreciative of the wonderful care provided to Ken as a patient of the Marshfield Medical Center and Colonial Health and Rehabilitation of Colby. As well as the home healthcare staff following his hospitalization in March 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the family. These gifts will be designated by the family for: First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield, WI; Marshfield Medical Foundation for mental health education and research; Lakeland College, Sheboygan, WI; or a charity of your choice.
