Obituary

Denis John Lane, 68 died May 13, 2022, at St. Charles Hospital in Bend, Oregon.

Denis was born on August 6, 1953, to John and Marie (Suty) Lane at the Lakeview Hospital.  He was raised on the family ranch and attended grade school in Adel OR graduating high school at Lakeview High with the class of 1971.  After high school, he attended TVCC for one year, but obligations to the ranch compelled him to return home.  Denis had a burning desire to serve his country unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be with the ranch.

Shortly after returning to Warner Valley, Denis married Desi Taylor and his first daughter was born, Lori Astin Lane Clifton on December 19, 1976.

Denis corralled the love of his life, Cindy Ropp, in a 4-month courtship on November 26, 1983.  Denis and Cindy have celebrated 38 years together with many adventures and memories ranging from ranching and camping to traveling the world.

On October 9, 1986, Denis welcomed his beloved son, Joseph Robert Lane.  Every morning around 6 AM Denis would wait for Joe to call so they could discuss the daily ranch business. These calls occurred even when Denis was on vacation and when the call didn’t come in, he would think something was amiss.  Denis loved this time of day and this special time with his son.

Michelle Ann Lane Jacobs arrived on October 4, 1988, Denis certainly didn’t let the fact she was a girl stop him from teaching her to rope, ride, brand, and ranch.  She was the apple of her dad’s eye and Michelle would get away with many things when it came to dad.

Denis' first passion was cars, breaking horses, and Indian culture.  Later in life, he discovered he enjoyed traveling the world and meeting new people, and fishing.

One thing we all know about Denis is he never met a stranger!  He thoroughly enjoyed and liked people.

Denis is a strong Trump supporter, a member of the NRA, Lake County Sherriff, Veterans, Eagle and Elks lodges, and many other organizations.

Survivors include his wife Cindy Lane of Plush, son; Joe (Tess) Lane of Adel, daughters; Michelle (Nolan) Jacobs of Redmond and Lori (Tim) Clifton of Huston TX, brother; Tom (Paula) Lane of Adel, grandsons; Dean, Sawyer, Gus, Wade and one grandchild arriving in September, many nieces, and nephews

Preceded in death by his parents John and Marie Lane
