Christopher “Chris” Joseph Crowell, 42 of Keokuk, IA died Monday, May 16, 2022 at his home. He was born June 2, 1979 in Keokuk, IA the son of Bennie Joseph and Diana Pezley Crowell. Chris graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1997. On May 14, 2008 he was united in marriage to Jessica Schmid in Keokuk. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Todd Crowell and Bryce Crowell both of Keokuk, two daughters, Courtney Crowell and Sherry Crowell both of Keokuk, one child on the way, due in October and one grandson, Tylor Crowell. He is also survived his parents, Bennie “B.J.” and Diana Crowell of Keokuk, one brother, Daniel Crowell (Jackie) of Keokuk, his grandmother, Julia Pezley of Nauvoo, IL and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Cynthia Schmid and his grandparents, Gene Pezley, Paul and Jean Schmid, Eddie and Betty Crowell. Chris was currently employed at Henniges Automotive in Keokuk. He loved hunting for geodes and arrowheads and also enjoyed collecting coins. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Most of all, Chris loved his family and was very proud of his children and very excited about the one on the way. A funeral service was held at 7:00 p.m. on May 20, 2022 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Steve Hendricksmeyer officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 5:00 -7:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home in Keokuk with family meeting with friends at that time. Memorials may be made to the family.
