Carl A Guerin

Carl Alfred Guerin, age 93, of Shepherd, formerly of Erie, PA, died at his home on May 16, 2022. He was born March 1, 1929, in Harborcreek, PA, son of the late Edward C. and Hazel B. Phillips Guerin. He graduated from Millcreek High School in 1947. He took a machinist apprentice course at General Electric and worked there after graduation. He served four years in the United States Air Force, stationed at Hickam Air Force Base on Oahu, Honolulu, during the Korean War. He worked as a Class A machinist for Parker White Metal (Erie and Fairview plants) for 21½ years and then worked for Erie County Prison for 14 years as Sargent Supervisor, graduating from the Camp Hill Corrections Academy. Carl was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #470, and American Legion Post #773, and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He proudly started the Farnsworth Trout Club (a cooperative nursery) in Warren County, PA in 1969, as well as starting the Millcreek Outdoorsman Club (another cooperative nursery). He served as an active member for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying his trips to Canada and western U.S. He enjoyed their camp in Warren County, PA, and enjoyed and treasured his daily walks in the peninsula with their dog, Tonya. He enjoyed country music and dancing, as well as playing cards with friends. Carl is survived by his son Brian Keith Guerin of PA; daughter-in-law Karen Guerin of Shepherd, MT; special niece Ellen McNerney and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as dear friend Judy Tymchyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Edna Mae (Enssle) Guerin; son Mark Alan Guerin; sister M. Margaret Reck; brother Russell Guerin; and sister Irene Ruth (Guerin) Marshall. Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens, 7880 Edinboro Road, Erie, PA, with military honors by V.F.W. Post #470 Color Guard. Please send memorials to V.F.W.
