<p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Master Sergeant William Richard Sherrill, 86, resident of High Point, died May 15, 2022 at Hospice Home at High Point.</p> <p>Richard was born November 13, 1935 in Denver, North Carolina, a son to the late Ralph and Jesse Howard Sherrill.&nbsp; He was a resident of this area since 2010, having moved here from Union Grove.&nbsp; There, he owned his own lumber company and also operated his beloved Deer Crossing Cattle Farm for sixteen years.&nbsp; He also was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Hamptonville and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.&nbsp; In 1960, he married the former Elaine Walkup, who survives of the residence.</p> <p>Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Sexton (Robert) of High Point and Laurie Evarts of Sebastian, Florida; a son, Eric Sherrill (Christina) of High Point; two brothers, Jim and Tony Sherrill; sister, Barbara Sifford; twelve grandchildren, Robert Sexton III (Cindy), Samantha Crooks (Quentin), Nichole Sexton (Sam Ulrich), Emma Sexton (Ryan O&rsquo;Donnell), Sarah Jones (Justin), Zachary Sexton, Elijah Sexton, Jessica Evarts, Ricky Evarts, Bethany Evarts, Sloane Sherrill and Blake Sherrill; and four great grandchildren, Carmen, Seraphim, Reagan and Easton.&nbsp; Two sisters, Gail and JoAudrey, and a brother, Murray, preceded him in death.</p> <p>A memorial service will be held at a later date.&nbsp; Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.&nbsp; Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point is assisting the family.</p>
