Edward Martin Johnson Obituary

Edward – “Prosperous Guardian”

“Mark the perfect man and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.” Psalm 37:37

On May 16, 2022, Edward “Ed” Martin Johnson passed into eternity. Ed was born in Bremerton, WA on February 19, 1943. He attended West High School in Bremerton, where he met his wife of 58 years, Marty Johnson, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2021. Their remains will be interred together at Miller Woodlawn Cemetery in Bremerton. Ed lived up to the meaning of his name - “Prosperous Guardian”. He was a faithful, loving, and generous Husband/Father/Papa to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He was a lover of Jesus and the Gospel.

Ed graduated from West High School in Bremerton, WA. As a young man, he worked in Bremerton’s Puget Sound Naval Shipyard on the construction of the USS Sacramento. He graduated from Seattle University with a degree in accounting. He and Marty raised their family in Oregon, Washington State and Hawaii during his 30-year career with the Xerox Corporation. In 2000, Ed retired, and they moved to Colorado to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They traveled around the world, always to visit their children. Israel and Italy were favorite destinations.  Ed savored the simple pleasures of life – a good sandwich, a double espresso with a sweet treat, sitting on the deck in fine weather, and family gatherings. He didn’t have all the answers, but his comforting presence and wisdom always brought hope.

Ed is survived by his children and their children’s families: Son - Edward M. Johnson Jr. and his wife Mary; Grandson Daniel, his wife Ayla, and Great Grand Daughter Amelia; Granddaughter Abigail and her husband Jason; Daughter - Susan J. (Johnson) Antonsen and her husband Don; Grandson Benjamin and his fiancé Olivia, and Granddaughter Camille; Son – Matthew P. Johnson and his wife Franziska; Grandsons Peter and Samuel. He is also survived by his elder siblings George Johnson and Claudia Stewart. He was the son of Axel and Helen Johnson.
