Evelyn Ceresa Obituary

Evelyn V. Ceresa, age 96, of West Haven, CT passed away on May 16th of natural causes.  She was born on December 15, 1925 in New Haven, CT , daughter of the late Felix and Josephine.

In 1948, she married the love of her life, Carlo Ceresa and had 2 sons, Robert and Joseph.

Evelyn selflessly worked at Southern New England Telephone company for 20 years so she could send her two sons to college.  She didn’t want them to start their professional careers in debt.  This generous spirit was evident throughout her life.  Her favorite phrase to her sons was always “Go and have a good time”.  She even hired a bus, stocked with food, drinks and games for 35 of their close friends to go to Vermont for her son Joseph’s wedding.  Decades later, that was still the talk of her friends.  She loved to cook delicious Italian food and other family favorites.

She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers (a Volunteer Network) and enjoyed many trips and dances with her husband through the West Haven Italian American Club as well as the Allingtown Seniors.  She and Carl also took many fun-filled trips with her friends from her work at the phone company.  She also loved her Saturday trips to the hairdresser with her beloved friend Ann Messore.

She is survived by her adoring son Joe Ceresa and his wife Sherry of St. Albans, Vermont, her daughter-in-law Susan Ceresa of Omaha, Nebraska and nephew Frank Romano of West Haven, CT.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Carlo, her son Robert, two sisters Ann and Bernice as well as her brother Felix.

We want to send deepest appreciation to Southmayd Retirement Home (Waterbury, CT), Northbridge Health Care Center (Bridgeport, CT) and Athena Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.  She left this earth knowing she was truly loved.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 10-11am at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  A funeral service will commence at the funeral home at 11am.  Mask will be required for all indoor services.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.  To leave an online condolence, please visit our website at www.westhavenfuneral.com.
