Funeral services for Alice M. Bierman, 91, of Warner, SD, will be 10:30am, Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Mansfield, SD, with Pastor Bret Bierman officiating. Burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mansfield, SD. Alice died Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00pm, Wednesday, with family present from 5:00-7:00pm, followed by a prayer service at 7:00pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street. Alice Marie Rehfeld was born March 1, 1931 in Aberdeen, SD, to Louis & Hildagard (Schuckhardt) Rehfeld. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warner. Alice went to Warner High School where she was crowned homecoming queen her senior year. She was named co-valedictorian of her senior class and graduated May 24, 1949. She started working at Squire Land & Loan her junior year and continued there for nine years. Alice was united in marriage to Gordon Bierman on June 9, 1957 in Warner, SD. They made their home in Aberdeen for a short time prior to moving to a farm near Warner. They purchased his uncle’s farm near Mansfield, where they remained for forty years until retiring and moving back to Warner, on Alice’s original homestead. Alice worked for many years at the election/voting polls. For over thirty years, she was the organist and choir director at Trinity Lutheran Church and St. John’s of Warner. She accompanied students at music contest, gave piano lessons, and played for many weddings and funerals. Alice was a member of Trinity LWML and the Tabitha Quilters. She enjoyed playing cards, having coffee after church, entertaining canasta club, birthday club, and playing cards and games with her grandchildren. Grateful for having shared Alice’s life are children Delwin Bierman, Jolene (Monty) Forsting, Neal (Donna) Bierman, Troy (Jill) Bierman, and Jerilyn (Dan) Mielke; grandchildren Houston Forsting, Tanner (Emily) Forsting, Cassandra Bierman, Nathan (Marcia) Bierman, Megan Bierman, Lexi (Jared) Amdahl, Trey Bierman, Dillon Mielke, Logan (Brenna) Mielke, and Jennah Mielke; great-grandchildren Lincoln, Lawson, Henry, Tucker, Gavin, Carly, Kya, and Myles; sisters-in law Alline Heidenreich, Elvera Bierman and brother-in-law Lyle Bierman. Preceding Alice in death are her parents; husband Gordon; grandson Alexander Gordon Bierman; siblings Aldin, Harlan, Arlowyn, and Irene; brother-in-law Rodger and sister-in-law Beverly Bierman. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials to Trinity LWML and Trinity Lutheran Radio Broadcasting.
