Norma Von Lycan Obituary

Norma Von Lycan, 86, of Vancouver, Washington passed away May 9, 2022. She was surrounded by her family in the days and weeks preceding her death. She was born to Robert Olund and Fern Pike on January 14, 1936 in Harper, Oregon the youngest of 5 children: Bernice, Bob, Lillian and Dewey. Norma married Lloyd Ellsworth Lycan on March 2, 1956 and was sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. They have 4 children: Susan, Kara, Jeff and Jann, 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Fern Olund, her sisters Bernice and Lillian and brother Bob. Norma was a perfectionist. She made perfect quilt corners and produced intricate cross-stitch pieces. Sewing was her specialty-the handmade clothing and beautiful wedding dresses were better than store bought. She created detailed patterns for her husband, the woodcutter, and crafted meticulous toll paintings. She was Lloyd’s private proof-reader for many years and loved her red geraniums. Norma enjoyed putting up the harvest of the garden, creating a beautiful cloverleaf pattern in her jarred peaches. She followed Lloyd around the US in various railroad consulting jobs and always volunteered to manage the offices. Norma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent many years in the Primary working with children. She and Lloyd voluntarily served in the Portland, Oregon Temple for 17 years. We would like to sincerely thank Mom’s neighbors, friends and care-givers who have helped her over the last few years as her health declined. Your attention and assistance has been invaluable. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint Chapel at 14400 NW 26th Ave, Vancouver, WA. Interment and graveside services will be in Kooskia, Idaho on Sunday, June 26 time TBD. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah would warm Norma’s heart.
