Daryll Rued

<p>Daryll Charles Olaf Rued passed away on May 15, 2022, at Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND. Daryll was born February 23, 1937, to Gustav and Mildred (Ingebretson) Rued in Fargo, ND. Their family moved to Wheaton, MN in 1942 where Daryll attended grade school. They moved back to Fargo in 1949 where Daryll attended Agassiz Junior High and Fargo Central High School, graduating in 1955. Daryll was a four-sport athlete and excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and track earning several accolades in each. Daryll also played shortstop for the Fargo American Legion baseball team from 1952-54 and was a member of the 1953 ND American Legion state championship team. Daryll went on to attend North Dakota State University where he played basketball and graduated with a degree in Pharmacy in 1959.</p> <p>Daryll married Shirley Jean Weisz, and together they had two children, Scott Daryll and Teresa Lynn. They moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1959 where he began his pharmacy career. They later returned to Minnesota where Daryll went on to work at a pharmacy in Navarre, MN and owned a pharmacy in Excelsior, MN.</p> <p>Daryll moved back to West Fargo, ND in 1968. In 1971, he married Shirley Joan Samson and together they had one son, Ryan Robert. Daryll worked for The Prescription Shop in West Fargo where he would remain for 37 years until his retirement in 2004.</p> <p>Daryll had several interests which typically involved sports. He loved watching his beloved NDSU Bison play football or basketball and was able to enjoy his love of sports with his family. In more recent years, Daryll enjoyed tailgating and attending Bison football games including a trip to Frisco for their first FCS national championship. Daryll loved golf and was a member of Maple River Golf Club where he and Shirley spent countless hours perfecting their game together in later years. However, his greatest love was his family, and he cherished the time he got to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.</p> <p>Daryll is survived by his daughter Teri Frederick of Chanhassen, MN; sons, Scott (Leah) Rued of Eden Prairie, MN and Ryan (Katina) Rued of West Fargo, ND; sister Karen (Gordon) McConnell of Humble, TX; sisters-in-law, Pat Samson and DeVonne Samson, both of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Andrew Frederick, Joseph Rued, Amy (Ben) Davis, Alex Rued (Kerry Jones), Amanda (Zach) Severin, Tyler Rued, and Callie Rued; three very special great-grandchildren, Wyatt Rued, Everson Davis, and Jovie Davis; and several special nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Daryll was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley (Samson); brother Robert; sister-in-law, Joyce Jerikovsky; brothers-in-law, Jack Jerikovsky, H.D. &ldquo;Duke&rdquo; Samson, and Richard Samson; along with his grandparents, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.</p> <p>Special thanks to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Bethany Homes, and Edgewood Vista Independent and Assisted Living for the compassionate care they gave Daryll. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith-Journey Lutheran Church.</p> <p>A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a prayer service to follow at 6:00 PM at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.</p> <p>A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Faith-Journey Lutheran Church, West Fargo, ND. Visitation held one hour prior to the service.
