Joseph Sebastian Klein

Joseph Sebastian Klein, 93, of Minot, ND, passed away on May 13, 2022. Joe was born on March 28, 1929 in Verendrye, ND to Sebastian and Barbara (Wiest) Klein. After Joe graduated from Saint Leo’s High School, he went on obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree at Minot State University. After graduating Joe taught science and German at Minot High School and later Granville Public School. Joe taught for 29 years, retiring in 1990. Joe served in the U.S. Army from February 1951 until his discharge from active duty in February 1953. He did his basic training at Fort Bragg, N.C. On completion of basic training, he was sent to Kaiserslautern, Germany and served with the 464 Dental Service Detachment as a dental technician. After his discharge from active duty, he served in the inactive Army Reserves with the 311th Evac Hospital from 1953 until he retired on November 19, 1983, retiring as Command Sergeant Major (E-9), the highest rank of an enlisted person. On August 5, 1961 Joe married Evelyn Rose Heinze at Saint Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot, ND. They lived in Minot, ND where they raised three children: Tim, Tom and John. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn, Minot; sons Tim (Lori) Klein, Bismarck; Thomas (Sylvia) Klein, Minot; and John (Amy) Klein, Bismarck; grandchildren Kohl, Karsten, Christian, Abigail and Jordan Klein; sister-in-law Katherine Klein, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Sebastian and Barbara Klein, and 10 siblings: Theresia, Pauline, Margaret, Agnes, Barbara, Frank, Martina, Carl, Josephine and Marie. Visitation: Wednesday, May 18 from 6 until 7 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Vigil prayer service will be Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel in Minot, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Leo’s the Great Catholic Church in Minot, ND on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service will take place following the service at the Rosehill Cemetery in Minot, ND. Memorials may be given in Joe’s memory to the St. Leo the Great renovation fund.,
