Betty Louise Gilmore

Cumberland, MD – Betty Louise Gilmore, 89, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022, Devlin Manor Health Care Center. Born May 5, 1933, in Keyser, Wv, Mrs. Gilmore was the daughter of the late John McGee Brown and Edna Estella (Gilmore) Powell. She was also preceded in death by her significant other: Charles Kenneth Denmark, June 8, 2012; three sisters: Helen Perry, Maxine Gilmore, Donna Jones; and two brothers: Richard Gilmore, John Brown Jr., and grandson, Travis Ashby. Betty retired from Golden Living Center when she worked in housekeeping and the kitchen. She was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church of Potomac Park and the United Methodist Women' of Potomac Park. Betty was also a member of the Fort Cumberland Post #13 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Henry Hart Post #1411 Ladies Auxiliary; the Cumberland Divas (Red Hat Girls). Betty is survived by her daughters: Nitra L. Peck and husband, Bruce; and Karen S. Ashby, all of Cumberland, MD. She also leaves behind a sister: Georgianna Johnson, Keyser, WV; her grandchildren: Kendra Mouton and husband, Mark, Terry Ashby, Jr., and Bruce Peck, Jr.; and her great grandchildren: Tre Peck, Cameron Peck, Jalen Mouton, Isaiah Mouton, and Mia Ashby. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Lisa Boone and Gwen Gilmore officiating. The pallbearers will be: Randy Jones, Todd Jones, Eric Johnson, Danny Keyes, Francis Keyes and Tre Peck Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The family request that masks be worn.
